The New York State Assembly/Senate Puerto Rican and Hispanic Task Force met with representatives from Legal Services NYC, Neighborhood Works Alliance and Better Neighborhoods to discuss the foreclosure crisis in our state and how the budget cut may lead to more homeowners losing their home.

Executive Members of the NYS Assembly/Senate Puerto Rican & Hispanic Task Force met with Suffolk County Executive Mr. Steven Bellone, to listen to the challenge that Suffolk County is currently facing.
After the discussion with Mr. Bellone, the Task Force welcomed students from Make the Road New York organization to listen to the stories of these students and how the Dream Acts will allow them to stay in school and to get the education that they need.

The New York State Assembly/Senate Puerto Rican & Hispanic Task Force met with Dr. Ricardo Fernandez, President of Lehman College and Dr. Carole M. Berotte Joseph, President of Bronx Community College to listen to the investment that the two colleges are making on improving the quality of education as well as updating equipment, technology and facilities.
Making these investment will provide students the foundation to reach high standards of achievement as well as increase their competitiveness in today’s global job market.
