Angelo Del Toro PR/HYLI

Dedicated to the memory of the Honorable Angelo Del Toro; since 1995, this initiative brings Hispanic high school students from across New York State to Albany for a firsthand look at the New York State legislative process. School districts and community agencies nominate students for training by their extra-curricular involvement and good academic standing. Students are then selected based on attendance and active participation in group activities and training exercises. The PR/HYLI program promotes a dialogue between students and legislators and familiarizes them with the legislative process. These two factors are then used by the student to conduct research and ultimately develop their own legislative proposals. This program empowers students through the development of their leadership skills, connecting them to a network of influential leaders, and advancing their legislative knowledge.
